Who stands behind
this website

This website / patient information tool was developed by a research team from Bern University Hospital (Inselspital Bern, Universitätsspital Bern) and the Institute of Primary Health Care (BIHAM) at the University of Bern, as part of a research project funded by the Kollegium für Hausarztmedizin (KHM). It is based on the recommendations of smarter medicine / Choosing Wisely.

Project
background

Studies suggest that the implementation of smarter medicine / Choosing Wisely recommendations in clinical practice is hindered, among other reasons, by patients being insufficiently informed about them and primary care providers lacking time to educate their patients. This patient information tool is an attempt to address this problem.

Development
of this website

Through a survey conducted among patients and primary care providers, we identified five smarter medicine / Choosing Wisely recommendations that would benefit the most from a patient information tool. For each of these five recommendations, we created an information tool, aimed at the general population. The information provided is based on the recommendations of smarter medicine / Choosing Wisely.
